Ay, so I tapped out what kinds of podcasts I am following for news for a comment response. I thought some folks might find this list interesting or useful.
Mostly, I am interested in either first-person interviews, (ie, 30 minutes talking with a person who was on the ground for an event) or hour-long discussions with journalists/scholars attached to a specific issue. In general, other news formats feel like more of a short-term drug to spike some brain chemicals than actionable information.
I’ll preface this list by saying that I am:
a) very far to the left and I neither care to debate that nor do I expect that centrist liberals find these sources useful or interesting, and
b) I know and understand that these aren’t “objective” sources… I personally find it a lot easier to sort out the “wishful thinking” from the “fact of the matter” when I know and understand where these biases lay.
But here’s what I like and give money to:
“It’s Going Down/This is America”: https://itsgoingdown.org/category/podcast/
“Rev Left Radio”: https://revolutionaryleftradio.libsyn.com/
These are podcasts I think have useful interviews:
